Google Beats Wolfram|Alpha On Its Own Turf

I was told about a strange and intriguing fact: that Tuscany, Italy is at the same latitude as Ontario, Canada. Based on my incomplete understanding of European geography (as well as that of the Great Lakes,) this seemed kind of improbable. Given that Wolfram Alpha had just debuted, this looked like exactly the kind of query the “computational engine” had been designed to handle. Unfortunately, it was not able to provide any response for either location.

Strange Attractors in Life, Work, and Relationships

In high school geometry, we were taught that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. Meanwhile, in fractal geometry a type of equation exists called a Strange Attractor, that produces beautifully complex plots like this.

The Symmetric Property of Associations

The symmetric property of equality:
If A = B, then B = A.

What value does this have for you in your current career or personal life?
Many people do not realize there is a direct relationship between:

a) the skills, experience, and knowledge they possess internally, and
b) the quality of their network of associations externally.

And, they do not realize this relationship is symmetric. It goes both ways.

Good People Day: China Jones

Good People Day is a meme well worth spreading. I encourage you to also share a story about someone you know.

I’ve been a fan of Gary Vaynerchuk’s “unpretentious, gonzo approach” for some time now, and I’m excited to answer his call to action here.

I’m also going to follow Gary’s lead and think really close to home on this one. There are a lot of reasons to call someone a “good person.” Here is someone who has had a huge positive impact on me.
